The app is built with buttons, big enough to be used with tired fingers or when buttons seem really small. All presets can be loaded on the main screen, so you dont have to change screens between exercises.

Features
■ Customize six presets
■ Modify activity time, rest time and number of sets for each preset
■ Four sound sets included
■ Even works when the app is in the background!
■ Listen to music during training with any other app
■ Start and Pause by tapping the time or buttons
■ Fast-forward rest interval
■ up to 32 sets with 5 sec steps for times under 2 mins, 10 sec steps over 2 mins and 1 min steps over 8 mins (more than 32 wont work in background due to iOS restrictions)
■ Use the volume buttons to set the signal sound volume

Pros and cons of Interval Training Timer app for iPhone and iPad

Interval Training Timer app good for

No need to spend time looking for something that works as it should
I like to do an exercise for one segment of time, then a rest/transfer to the next. This app can set a repeating timer for 1 minute, then 10 sec, then one min again, repeated up to 25 times. And I can set up to six different presets for different lengths of times. The sounds/beep options are a little quiet in a noisy gym though. But the numbers display is large enough to see even if I cant hear the signal. Would love the option to use existing iPhone sounds as the signals. Would also love the option to be able to use any increment of time in the presets, rather than only 10 sec increments. But other than that, its perfect! Glad I got it!

Some bad moments

So glad I found this app. I can customize the intervals to help train for my first 5K. Only thing it needs is to signal when the rest time is finished on last interval. Great tool
This is a nice easy app and you can customize it if you go to settings and click on a preset. It is a rather dull looking app but it does the job.
I recently read the article in the New York Times about the successful research into shorter but intense interval training as a substitute for 30 minutes of moderate exercise. That led me to search for an app like this. What a find! It has just what you need and no more. As a UX designer I really appreciate how straightforward it is to set and use the presets. The audio prompts to let you know when an interval is ending play on top of whatever music youre playing (and indeed fade down your music a touch to make sure you hear them - then fade it back up). The only small suggestion I would make for the next rev is to have the sets and overall timer count down, rather than counting up to be psychologically consistent with the interval timer (ie "Sets To Go", "Time Remaining"). Thanks for creating something so clear and functional.
I do lots of isometrics. I have a timer for most of them but needed something to time various exercises I do irregularly. I wanted something that ticks off the seconds using sound and something easy to set up with a number of timers. This meets those requirements. What I dont like, however, is that I need to set exercises for 7 seconds. I cant do that with this timer. You have to go from five to ten, etc. I really find that restrictive and dont like it. You can set up the number of sets, intervals and rest. Id like to be able to set up sets and reps as well. Also, in isometrics, you need so much time for the contraction and another 3,4 seconds to inhale and get out of the contraction before you go into the rest. You cant set it up like that. So, you have to set it up to allow for all the time in the work part and guess somewhat when doing the contractions. But otherwise I find this a very good interval timer. Its simple and basic and the fact it is audible in both the work and rest makes it somewhat unique and very helpful. If the developer would fix it so I could set it in minutes such as 1,2,3,4,5, etc I would likely give it 5 stars. I tried several and bought one. I very much like the other one I bought but it only allows 3 timers. This is an excellent timer. Recommended.
Works great, easy to set up and use. Incoming messages and alerts pause the timer
You cant give your own names to intervals, and you cant use your own sounds. It hushes the volume of video if youre using the timer in the background, with no option to turn that off. Sometimes it aborts the timer when used in the background behind FoxTube 1.x.
